London’s most common second languages tube map

If diversity is wealth these are the ten richest cities in the world: Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Sydney, Paris, Los Angeles, Manchester, London and New York, the city with the largest immigrant population in the world.

Everyone says that London is a multicultural city. But, why? The English capital have 8.308 million residents. In 2011, the 44.9% of the population were White British while the 37% were born outside United Kingdom. For that reason, in the capital it is possible to hear more than 300 different languages.

The traditional fish and chips shares customers with the Bhapaa Aloo, Tandoori chicken, Crepes, Pizza, Paella or Dumplings. In London it is possible to eat and drink anything that you want without the need to travel.

But also, London allows the possibility to get in touch with a big variety of dresses, religions, fashion trends and cultural offers.

If you had the chance to live or visit London during the Olympic Games 2012, you probably noticed that every single one of the competing countries had some representatives communities in the city.

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park opens to the public

After a two-year transformation, at last, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has opened to the public. On Friday, Prince Harry and Mayor Boris Johnson were the guests of the site but it was on Saturday, at 10 am, when Londoners could visit and explore the whole parkland, 560-acres, for the fist time.

Although the north area and the Copper Box Arena opened last year, it was this weekend when the south side and the Ancelor Mittal Orbit, with its 375ft-high, were accessible.

This is part of the London 2012 Games' planning. A great east London landmark and a reference place for all Londoners.

In June the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre will be open, where the European Hockey Championship will be hosted in 2015. The new roof for the Olympic stadium will be finished to celebrate the Rugby World Cup next year and the last piece of the puzzle will be completed in 2016 with the West Ham stadium opening.

The Olympic Park Reopens

Could you not come to see the Olympics? Now, although it’s not the same, you can visit the Park where the Games took place. (Tickets: £15 for adults and £7 for children.)

The Park in Progress tours will receive visitors from 29th March until 23rd June, on weekends and during school holidays. For now, 20,000 tickets have been sold.

Visitors will go up into the top, 115-metres-tall, of the ArcelorMittal Orbit tower, designed by artist Anish Kapoor and architect Cecil Balmond. From this observatory they will see the Olympic Stadium, cycle track and Copper Box. Sadly the basketball and hockey's arena and the world’s biggest McDonald’s were demolished. However, the view from the Orbit is the best place to see the transformation.

With the ticket you will see, as well, the two viewing galleries. The exhibition rooms include a group of displays and activities to tell the history, past and future, of the Park.

On 27th July it will be the London 2012 Olympics Games first anniversary. Concerts and more attractions will be waiting for you.
